Artfield Invitation

Last night's touching dialogue on "Loki" between Victor Timely and
Miss MInutes suggests a review of a recent rather one-sided conversation
of my own —

Thus far, there has been no reply.

The "Loki" dialogue above took place in Chicago, a town repeatedly
described by novelist Willard Motley as a "blue-black panther."

Perhaps the email addressee has in mind the sage advice of
Ogden Nash . . .

"If called by a panther, don't anther."

Game-Changer?

"Through a combination of captivating visuals
and concise storytelling, we aimed to present
the platform as a game-changer…."

This is not a description of yesterday's Meta
developers conference, but rather prose by
Marcela Nowak in 2022. Miss Nowak is a
talented visual artist, but perhaps not as adept
at promotion as the Meta team, who introduced
yesterday the new "AI Studio" concept.  This
suggested the creation of a more modest and
less artificial approach to intelligence —

Birthday of T. S. Eliot,
George Gershwin,
and Olivia Newton-John

Time past and time future
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
— T. S. Eliot, Four Quartets

In time the Rockies may crumble
Gibraltar may tumble
They’re only made of clay….
— Ira Gershwin

In honor of Tom and George (not to mention Olivia) the muse of dance, Terpsichore, suggests that today we recall Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron as they dance by the Seine in “An American in Paris.”

Today is also the birthday of Martin Heidegger, author of Being and Time.  In honor of Heidegger and his girlfriend Hannah Arendt, I looked for a rendition of “Our Love is Here to Stay” on the glockenspiel,  but could not find one.  The birthday song “Las Mañanitas” will therefore have to do for Tom, George, Olivia, and Martin, as well as Michael and Catherine (see Sept. 25 note below).
