Excerpt from a poem by Johanna Skibsrud
(Toronto Quarterly , April 2, 2011)—
No, I could not love a human being if they
Even if I was a bear
Even if you were a bear
But I am not a bear. And will not eat you. And you are not a bear. And will not eat me. And that is why I could not love you. |
